Per Theater Chart Still Feeling Crazy

Like last week, Like Crazy was the only film to reach the $10,000 on the per theater chart. It expanded from four to sixteen theaters, while its per theater average remained strong at $16,657. The only new release that came close to $10,000 was The Other F Word and it was well back with an average of $6,643 in two theaters.

The next best new limited release was Charlotte Rampling: The Look, which only managed an average of $2,953 in two theaters. There's no way to spin that positively. Young Goethe in Love was right behind with an average of $2,857 in six theaters. October Baby avoided the indignity of missing the Mendoza Line with an average of $2,431 in fourteen theaters, but The Son of No One was not as lucky with an average of $1,802 in ten theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

• Take Shelter got to $1 million over the weekend and while it has a shot at $2 million, I wouldn't risk money on it.
• Martha Marcy May Marlene also reached $1 million and has a strong chance at $2 million.
• The Skin I Live In was the third film to get to $1 million this weekend and it too has a good shot at $2 million.
• Ra. One got to $2 million in just two weeks of release. However, like many Bollywood films, it collapsed during its second week of release. In fact, it fell faster than expected, and it will now likely disappear before it reaches $3 million.
• The Way topped $2 million after a month of release and it should get to $3 million before too long.
• Margin Call made it to $2 million over the weekend and it is already halfway to $3 million.
• Anonymous earned another $1 million over the weekend and now has $2 million after two. It should get to $3 million by this time next week, maybe even $4 million.
