Movie Websites Launches for May 28 - June 3

June 3, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Two Brothers - Official Site . If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Alexander
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the site.

Anchorman
Current Content: The downloads section was added, but they mis-linked Christina Applegate's wallpapers. Wasn't hard to find though, 800x600, 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

Around the World in 80 Days
Current Content: Two more locations were added to the site, but strangely San Francisco wasn't one of them. In death valley you learn about some of the animals and plants there and try and find Fogg's Bag, (very similar to the Find Zero game on the Holes Website, which I preferred.) The second location was New York where you can learn about some of the site and play a whack-a-mole type game.

Cellular
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site.

The Chronicles of Riddick
Current Content: Most of the rest of the content was added to the site, cast and crew bios, production notes and the last chapter in the Hunt for Riddick. That leaves just the behind the scenes, clip, interviews and soundtrack information to be added next week. (However, the clips will probably not be added until after the movie opens.

Constantine
Current Content: A short animated intro was added to the site.

The Corporation
Current Content: The site has a very simple design, but it more than makes up for in the sheer volume of information.

Fahrenheit 9/11
Current Content: Just the trailer for now.

Garfield
Current Content: The memory game was added to the site.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Current Content: This site is huge, of course it has been around since 2001 so it should be huge. And since it has been around for so long it is almost unfair to compare it to other sites that deal with only one movie. To make it a fair comparison one must set the bar a little higher, and because of that this site just misses out winning the Weekly Website Award. Maybe it will win next year for Goblet of Fire.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Current Content: A self interview with the screenwriter, Karey Kirkpatrick, was added to the site. If you are as excited / mortified as I am about the prospects of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy franchise being turned into a movie, this interview should calm your nerves a little.

The Incredibles
Current Content: A bunch of new videos were added to the site. One of three behind the scenes videos, two video clips for Mr. Incredible and Frozone and one each for Elastigirl and Edna Mole. Each of the character clips comes in a tiny, stamp sized version and a more reasonable, higher res version.

Ladder 49
Current Content: A placeholder site with the trailer, image gallery, poster and cast and crew, (no bios.)

Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Current Content: The trailer was added to the placeholder site.

The Ring 2
Current Content: Just a placeholder site.

The Stepford Wives
Current Content: A Stepford Wives I.Q. test was added to the site. I got a score of 14.

The Story of the Weeping Camel
Current Content: The features on this site are pretty standard, but at least there are animated intros to each of them, not to mention the background sounds.

Two Brothers
Current Content: Last week the flash site launched, but most of the content was still marked coming soon. This week a good chunk of that content was added. Cast and crew bios and the production notes were added to the one section leaving just the movie clips that are still marked coming soon. The other two sections were also added to the site, Take the Journey, which details the lives of the two tiger cubs, and McRory's Journal, which has activities. There are four different quizzes, a coloring book and an image puzzle. Still missing are the interactive adventure and notes and maps. Even with some missing content, the site is a cut above the rest of the pack and is the feral Weekly Website Award.

White Chicks
Current Content: The flash launched this week and its not bad. All the usual features are there, plus some animation and interactive features. But there was nothing that really grabbed my attention.
