Monster of a Weekend

July 14, 2004

The documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, which some are describing as a real life Spinal Tap, pulled in $46,359 in three theatres for an average of $15,453. Two other films topped $10,000 including De-Lovely with a $14,212 average and the overall box office champ, Spider-Man 2 with $10,845.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:

  • The Clearing crossed the $1 million mark over the weekend, in fact, it earned more than $1 million over the weekend and will have crossed $2 million on Monday.
  • Napoleon Dynamite's box office total continues to rise and it topped $2 million sometime last week, and should have top $3 million by Monday, (exact figures for Monday are unknown at this time.)
  • Super Size Me hit an amazing $10 million early next week. That makes it one of the biggest documentaries of all time.
