Into the Snow We Go! and Nickelodeon Christmas Gift Sets
Bubble Guppies / Team Umizoomi: Into the Snow We Go! - Buy from Amazon
Dora the Explorer: Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure - Buy from Walmart
SpongeBob SquarePants: It's A SpongeBob Christmas! - Buy from Walmart
Winx Club: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom Movie - Buy from Walmart

Last week, four Christmas themed releases from Nickelodeon came out, three of which I've previously reviewed. However, those three are getting new releases as "Holiday Gifts" with special bonuses. The new release is...

Bubble Guppies / Team Umizoomi: Into the Snow We Go! - Buy from Amazon

  1. Bubble Guppies: Happy Holidays, Mr. Grumpfish!
Mr. Cooper is sitting in front of a fire with Bubble Puppy. He tells us that he loves the holidays, but he also mentions that there is one person who didn't love the holidays. He then tells us the story of Mr. Grumpfish, who hated the holiday. He hates the holidays. He hates everything. Maybe the Bubble Guppies can cheer him up.
  2. Team Umizoomi: A Sledding Snow Day
It's snowing in Umicity. Umi car can't drive in the snow, but Geo turns him into a sled. Their friend, Casey, wants to go sledding, but she doesn't have a sled, so Team Umizoomi go racing to her so she can sled with them.
  3. Team Umizoomi: City of Lost Penguins
Team Umizoomi are spending the day at the zoo and they watch the baby penguins. Unfortunately, the Troublemakers show up and take the baby penguins away. Now Team Umizoomi need to find the penguins and return them to their home in the zoo.

Dora the Explorer: Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure - Buy from Walmart

I've previously reviewed this DVD, so there's not much to talk about when it comes to the story. It's an adaptation of A Christmas Carol, which is a Christmas standard. It is certainly better than the average Dora episode and feels like a full story, rather than a few episodes stitched together. However, the real draw here is the added bonuses that are in the Holiday Gift box. It comes with an eight-page coloring book, four crayons, a 10" by 14" poster, and a page with just over a dozen stickers of various sizes.

SpongeBob SquarePants: It's A SpongeBob Christmas! - Buy from Walmart

I've also previously reviewed this DVD. I liked this one the best out of the four on this list. It has the trademark SpongeBob humor, but with a much more different look than we are used to seeing. On the other hand, it is the shortest at just 22 minutes long. Like the previous box, this one comes with an eight-page coloring book, four crayons, a 10" by 14" poster, and a page of stickers, but there are 20 this time. (They are all the same size, while some of the Dora stickers were much larger.)

Winx Club: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom Movie - Buy from Walmart

You can read the previous review here. It is by far the best value per dollar with a feature-length movie and seven episodes. In fact, the seven episodes are longer than the other three DVDs combined. Like the previous two boxes, this one contains an eight-page coloring book, four crayons, a 10" by 14" poster, and a page with six stickers, one for each of the six main characters.

The Verdict

Of the four DVDs on this review, only Bubble Guppies / Team Umizoomi: Into the Snow We Go! is new. It's not bad, but the price-per-minute is high, even compared to other similar releases. The three Walmart exclusives, Dora the Explorer: Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure - Buy from Walmart; SpongeBob SquarePants: It's A SpongeBob Christmas! - Buy from Walmart; and Winx Club: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom Movie - Buy from Walmart, all cost about $7 more than just buying the DVD themselves, which might be too much to ask for. Perhaps wait till they are no longer an exclusive release.
