This helped the film earn first place on the international chart with $37.7 million in 28 markets for totals of $366.0 million internationally and $537.2 million worldwide. The film is already ahead of its predecessor internationally and worldwide, so the studio should be happy, even if it didn't earn as much domestically.

Guardians of the Galaxy slipped into second place with $35.2 million in 65 markets internationally, giving it totals of $197.6 million internationally and $420.3 million worldwide. After just three weeks of release, the film has overtaken the lifetime total of Captain America: The First Avenger. Next up is Germany, while it opens in Japan in September and in China and Italy in October.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes fell from second to fifth place with $16.7 million in 65 markets for a totals of $337.2 million internationally and $539.1 million worldwide. The film had no major market openings, but Japan is still ahead, so the film could reach another milestone at the box office.

The Admiral: Roaring Currents remained in first place in South Korea with $16.15 million on 1,012 screens over the weekend for a total of $109.57 million after three weeks of release. It is now the biggest hit in that market ahead of local films like Thieves and The Host, as well as the previous all time leader, Avatar.

The Expendables 3 debuted in seventh place with $15 million in 39 markets. Its biggest market was the U.K. where it placed third with $2.82 million on 462 screens.
