As expected, Interstellar opened in first place on the international chart earning $82.90 million on 14,800 screens in 62 markets during its opening weekend. As you may or may not know, we introduced a new comprehensive look at the international numbers, so there's little more than needs to be said here. I will point out that the film's opening in South Korea was particularly strong at $12.46 million on 1,310 screens over the weekend, for a total opening of $14.21 million. The film also opened in first place in the U.K., with $8.53 million on 1,298 screens, which is about on par with its domestic opening, given the relative size of the two markets. Russia was close behind with $8.00 million on 1,800 screens. The film opened in China this week and those numbers should help the film remain in first place next weekend.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was pushed into second place with $17.70 million in 24 markets for totals of $273.6 million internationally and $464.5 million worldwide. This includes $25.17 million in China, but that was for the full week. It now has $52.12 million after ten-days of release in that market.

The Maze Runner was next with $11.7 million in 33 markets over the weekend for a two-month total of $225.6 million internationally and $324.5 million worldwide. This includes a third place, $8.03 million run in China, but that was for the full week. After two weeks of release, the film has pulled in $21.86 million in that market.

Gone Girl slipped a spot to fourth with $8.7 million in 43 markets over the weekend for totals of $158.4 million internationally and $303.9 million worldwide. It became the third film in David Fincher's career to reach $300 million. The film has yet to open in Japan and Italy and while it likely won't be monster hits in either market, it only needs to pull in about $25 million to become the biggest hit in Fincher's career.

Big Hero 6 rose to fifth place with $7.6 million over the weekend for a total of $23.0 million after two. The film had no major market openings this past weekend, but it did crack $1 million in both the Philippines ($1.55 million on 167 screens) and in Indonesia ($1.15 million on 195). Its biggest market was Russia, where it managed $2.87 million on 1,350 million over the weekend for a two-week total of $18.50 million. The film has yet to open in most major markets, so it is too early to tell where it will end up when it does.

Fury slipped a couple of spots to sixth with $7.0 million in 44 markets over the weekend for a three-week total of $51.83 million. The film had no major market openings this past week and it is not keeping pace with its domestic run.

Annabelle landed in seventh place with $6.5 million in 55 markets over the weekend for totals of $160.3 million internationally and $243.8 million worldwide. It goes without saying their will be another film in this franchise. In fact, I've heard rumors of a Annabelle / Chucky crossover.

Dracula Untold was right behind with $6.2 million in 61 markets for totals of $147.56 million internationally and $202.5 million worldwide. This is probably enough to cover its entire production budget and at least some fraction of its P&A budget. It will break even some time on the home market, but I'm not sure the studio will want to go forth with the Avengers style monster movie crossover franchise.

For Love or Money opened in second place in China with $5.53 million over the weekend in China, which was enough for ninth place internationally.

Kung Fu Jungle was right behind with $4 million in 7 markets over the weekend for a two-week total of $21 million. It added $8.75 million during the full week in China for a total of $16.74 million after two.
