The Producers Guild of America nominations were announced and there's not a lot of surprises among the three categories. Birdman, Boyhood, The Imitation Game, and others continue to get accolades, but there are also some films that are being passed over too often.

The categories and nominees are...

Theatrical Motion Pictures

Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures

Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures

Notes and Reactions...

  • Birdman appears to be heading for a big Awards Season haul, but it does have competition from Boyhood and a few others that are also earning nomination after nomination.
  • Selma continues to be ignored by too many Awards Season voters. I really don't think American Sniper deserved the nod over Selma.
  • Best Animated Feature Film category was identical to the Golden Globes, which was mostly a good list. I still think Song of the Sea would have been a better choice than either The Boxtrolls or The Book of Life.
  • I think Life Itself has the edge for Best Documentary, because not only are its reviews amazing, but most voters will have a more personal connection to the material.
