November 16, 2004

Kinsey, the biography of sex researcher Dr. Alfred Kinsey was top of the per theatre charts this past weekend. With nearly $170,000 in 5 theatres, the film was able to earn an impressive $33,808 per theatre average. Coming in second place was another biography, Finding Neverland with an average of $27,566 in 8 theatres. Well back was Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which took in $16,385 in 530 on average. The only returning film in the $10,000 club was the overall box office champ, The Incredibles with $12,777 per theatre. And while it didn't hit $10,000 per theatre, it is worth nothing that Veer-Naara came very close with $843,010 in 88 theatres for a $9,580 per theatre average.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:

  • Sideways just slipped below the $10,000 per theatre mark during its fourth week of release, but it did cross $2 million during the week and $3 million over the weekend. And with a per theatre average of $9,825, it still has plenty of room to grow.
  • Now in its third year of releases, Santa vs. The Snowman has hit $5 million at the box office.
