Tom Hanks
About Tom Hanks
Starting out as the star of cross dressing sit-com Bosom Buddies , Tom Hanks made a succesful transition to the big screen with fantasy comedy Splash . After starring in a number of comedies, he tried the change to more serious movies. First there was the failed attempt Bonfire of the Vanities . His portrayal of an AIDS victim in Philadelphia won him a Best Acting Oscar and made him one of the most popular actors of the decade. During the nineties he starred in a string of successful movies, landing him the number 1 spot on the biggest box office stars of the nineties list.
