The Hero is one of several limited releases that were able to earn some measure of mainstream success, but was never able to expand even semi-wide. Is it a film that could only thrive in the art house circuit? Or does it have more mainstream appeal? Or was it too mainstream, which is why it didn’t do amazing business in art house theaters?

It's quite a good week for limited releases, as there are several that are earning overwhelmingly positive reviews. Finding Vivian Maier, Hide Your Smiling Faces, and Mistaken for Strangers are all earning excellent reviews. The Raid 2 is also earning excellent reviews, but it also possesses the buzz needed to thrive in limited release.

Vamps was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and stars Alicia Silverstone. The pair previously worked together on Clueless, which is arguably the highlight of the careers of both women. This film won't be as big as Clueless was in theaters (although bizarrely, it did better in its second weekend than its first). But will it find an audience on the home market?

There are not a lot of new releases on this week's list, and even fewer that have a good shot at earning some measure of mainstream success. This Must Be the Place is probably the best bet in that regard, but fans of B-movies should try and see Miami Connection.
