Home Market Releases for April 9th, 2019

April 11th, 2019

Mirai

We’ve hit the summer doldrums on the home market, as there are no major winter releases that haven’t come out and none of 2019’s early releases were amazing, so there’s going to be a large gap between monster hits. One of the biggest hits is On the Basis of Sex, which is also one of the best. Another contender for Pick of the Week is Mirai while last week’s Archer: The Complete Season Nine: Danger Island would have been a contender last week, if the screener had arrived on time. In the end, it wasn’t a particularly close race and the Oscar-nominated movie won. More...

The Little Stranger Trailer

August 29th, 2018

Gothic horror drama starring Domhnall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, and Charlotte Rampling opens on Friday ... Full Movie Details.

Dr. Faraday, the son of a housemaid, has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants—mother, son and daughter—are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own. More...

The film with the best shot at mainstream success is probably Leave No Trace, with its 100% positive reviews. That said, I’m going to suggest something different, GLOW: Season Two on Netflix. It just started streaming today and I may have watched half of the season while working on this column. More...
