Making its theatrical entrance and simultaneously holding the position of widest release this week is the live-action hybrid musical comedy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. Releasing in 4,350 cinemas, the PG-rated singing animal feature stars Shawn Mendes as the titular character, who lives the in the attic of the Primm family in New York City. Finding difficulties in adapting to his new surroundings, young son Josh discovers Lyle and the two become fast friends but must band together after Lyle’s existence is threatened. Don’t Worry Darling

Last week was dominated by newcomer Don’t Worry Darling as the 1950s set thriller earned $19.35 million in its opening weekend from 4,113 locations (which included a solid $3.1 million from Monday IMAX and Thursday evening previews) . After accumulating $24.35 million in its first six days, Don’t Worry Darling adds eight cinemas this week, bringing the current count to 4,121. It will likely be one week and done at the top of the box office charts, but for at least one more week the film outpaces the pack regarding its viewing availability. More...

Don’t Worry Darling

As another weekend approaches, another new arrival takes over as the widest release of the week. Releasing in more theaters than originally projected, Don’t Worry Darling makes its theatrical entrance in a robust 4,113 locations this week, which is more than enough to overtake last week’s widest release and box office number one, The Woman King, as the latter keeps its opening count of 3,765 theaters from its inaugural week. Don’t Worry Darling technically isn’t the only new wide release of the week, as On the Come Up hits the scene by playing in 603 cinemas.
