History

Trusted by Industry Pioneers since 1997

Back when Netscape was the web browser of choice and Tamagotchis were considered high-tech, The Numbers was cementing our spot as the original entertainment data nucleus.

The Numbers was launched by Bruce Nash on October 17th, 1997 as a free resource for industry professionals, the investment community, and movie fans to track business information on movies. With just 300 tracked films, we started small but had big ambitions. In the past 25 years, we have achieved and exceeded those objectives.

Our site has grown to become the largest freely-available database of movie business information on the web. The Numbers now brings information on over 50,000 movies and nearly 200,000 people to the broadest audience possible. We think that’s pretty cool.

A Passionate and Personable Team

At Nash Information Services, we put personalization and humanity first. Our favorite part of our job is giving our clients the confidence and analytics-backed evidence they need to pitch more powerfully.

That’s why we offer tailor-made analytics that you can use as creative ammunition. Armed with our Comp Analysis, you’ll understand the market you’re entering and have the niche intelligence to get others on board with your vision. When you choose The Numbers, you don’t get AI –– you get actual interaction.

Continuously Updated Data

At The Numbers, we do things a little differently than other databases. Instead of trawling the web, we get our information from the source. Want to know the latest movie release schedule? We talk to the studios every day about their changing plans. Want to be sure you’re getting the most complete and accurate box office tracking? We’re the company the studios send their numbers to, and we’re the first to publish daily, weekend, and weekly numbers.

Helping You Capitalize on Disruption

It’s no longer 1997, and sweeping digital transformations are rewriting the rules of how, where, and when content is consumed. Fortunately for you, we’ve been there through every ripple in the industry, helping our clients capitalize on these disruptions. No matter where the movie industry moves next, you can trust us to stick around; we were collecting data before Netflix was even mailing DVDs.
