Firefly Ready to Launch to a Theater Near You
September 4, 2003
The TV series may have only lasted 12 episodes (with three more unaired) but it looks like Firefly will make the transition to the big screen. Production is set to begin early in 2004 with Joss Whedon at the helm. While this will be his feature film directorial debut, he has directed many episodes of Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. He also has written the screenplays for several feature films including Toy Story.
Cast details were not made available, but Joss Whedon previously stated he would only turn Firefly into a movie if he could reunite the entire cast.
In the meantime, fans of the show are waiting for the DVD release that will include all 15 episodes and more than a few extras. No official release date has been given, but the rumor is for a December 9th release.
