Dora The Explorer has been going on for more than a decade with more than 100 episode produced. The latest DVD release, Dora's Rescue in Mermaid Kingdom, features three episodes, starting with...

The Show

  1. Dora's Rescue in the Mermaid Kingdom
The episode begins with Dora, Boots, and all of their friends at the beach. They are all having fun making sand castles, playing beach volleyball, and collecting sea shells. That's when they hear someone crying for help. When they investigate, the meet Maribel, a mermaid. She's lost and needs help to get to Mermaid Cove, where she and her mother live. Dora and Boots want to help her find her way home, but how? Sure, they have the map to show them the way, but how will they do that when they can't breath underwater? This isn't the first time Dora's met a mermaid and she has a magical necklace that will transform her and Boots into mermaids. They have to deal with Swiper the Fox, snapping clams, and more to get their friend back home.
  2. Benny the Castaway
Dora and Boots are again at the beach, but this time they find a note in a bottle. The note is a picture of Benny the Bull marooned on Coconut Island. It's a dangerous place and coconuts keep falling on his head. They get a ride from the Pirate Pigs and they are on their way, but there's hazards ahead.
  3. Dora's Moonlight Adventure
Dora's Aunt is going on vacation and Dora will be taking care of her three kittens while she is gone. At first they are really happy, but on the first night, one of the kittens, Lucky, chases a ball of string and gets lost. Dora has to find it and rescue it, but they will have to cross the sea, avoid a storm, prevent Swiper from swiping, and more.

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD.

The Verdict

Dora's Rescue in Mermaid Kingdom is very typical for a Dora the Explorer release, but with only three episodes, the price-per-minute is high for this type of show, so keep that in mind.
