Movie Websites Launches for June 18 - June 24

June 24, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Suspect Zero - Official Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Anchorman
Current Content: Another Ron Burgundy Thought of the Week, this time on the Budget Deficits. I've argued with people online who have a poorer grasp of economics than Ron Burgundy does.

Blade: Trinity
Current Content: Just the poster so far.

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi
Current Content: Just the synopsis / production notes, trailer and reviews.

The Bourne Supremacy
Current Content: Some downloads were added and the background image was changed.

A Cinderella Story
Current Content: And audio intro by Hilary Duff was added to the site as was personalized audio e-mails / phone messages by the aforementioned Miss Duff. It's actually very well done; it is obviously just audio clips spliced together, but for the most part they flow quite well and are not too stilted.

Code 46
Current Content: First new flash site this week. All the regular features are there, synopsis, cast and crew bios, production notes, reviews, (marked coming soon), image gallery and trailer. There is also an impressive amount of animation and sound that goes with each section. There are four questions that have their own animations and a brief explanation of Code 46.

De-Lovely
Current Content: No changes since Last Week. This is a very good site with some of the best background music.

Fahrenheit 9/11
Current Content: Frankly, I was hoping for a lot more from this site. It's so … understated. Given the controversy surrounding the film, the site could have been just a little more inflammatory. I guess I'll just have to go to www.MichaelMoore.com for that.

Garden State
Current Content: The flash site launched, but there is very little content. Just two trailers, (full and teaser), two clips and a short interview with Natalie Portman. I did find the trailers very effective and the site should be checked out for them alone.

The Grudge
Current Content: The flash site launched this week but there is no content so far.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Current Content: Another Earth destruction intro was added to the site, this time the Earth is erased as if by an invisible erasure. I think that ups the total to six. Golf swing, bulldozer, cue ball, light bulb being turned off, exploding and now erased. And half have sound, so that's nice.

The Intended
Current Content: Typical IFC Films website with less content that usual.

Ju-On: The Grudge
Current Content: Some downloads were added to the site.

Kaena: The Prophecy
Current Content: No changes since Last Week. And the original site is still much better. There have been no updates for the original site in more than a year and had Sony just used that website it would have won the Weekly Website Award.

The Longest Yard
Current Content: Just the synopsis and some downloads.

The Notebook
Current Content: It has been a while since the site was updated. The site is very understated, which works well with the movie itself.

Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Current Content: There was a slightly new trailer added to the site that replaced the nearly identical old trailer.

Racing Stripes
Current Content: The synopsis and the trailer were added to the site.

Serenity
Current Content: Just a placeholder site for now with the synopsis, cast and crew, (no bios), production journal and the Browncoats section. The synopsis is pretty generic and says nothing new that fans of the TV Series won't already know, but it's a good introduction for neophytes. The production journal has a decidedly less than serious tone, but is a fun read. And the Browncoats is a grass roots movement you can join to help spread the word about the movie. This is like the Mercs section on the Chronicles of Riddick website.

Sleepover
Current Content: It's Sara Paxton's turn at doing the video message on the chat board.

The Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Current Content: The third trailer was added to the site. And since I forgot to mention children and drunk college students last time the site was updated I'll mention them twice this time. Children and drunk college students should love this movie.

Suspect Zero
Current Content: To be blunt, this site has the best mood since Identity - Official Site, but quite frankly, overall this site is better. It's mainly better because it not only has a great style, it also has a lot of content as well, however a lot of it is currently marked coming soon. The synopsis, cast and crew bios, production notes and a section called remote viewing are marked coming soon while the trailer, image gallery and downloads are on the site. The site is very interactive and as you explore it you come across different sections, but once you found them you can easily go back with the choices at the bottom of the page. Combine the interactivity with the animation, audio clips and creepy background music and this site easily wins the obsessive Weekly Website Award.

Thunderbirds
Current Content: The USA site has caught up with the international site, which was launched almost a month ago.

Two Brothers
Current Content: Two TV spots and three clips were added to this award winning site.

The Village
Current Content: The new trailer was added to the site, I think. I must confess I can't remember when it was added or if I've mentioned it before. When you try and keep track or nearly 100 website, one or two are bound to slip between the cracks.

White Chicks
Current Content: The Beach Football game was added to the site.

Wicker Park
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it has the usual features, synopsis, trailer, cast and crew (bios marked coming soon), production notes, (also marked coming soon.) There is also an impressive amount of sound and animation on the site.
