New at The Numbers: Trending Movies and People, and More

October 19, 2014

We’re pleased to make announcements today about some new features on the site, and our future plans. We’ve received a recent spike in traffic at The Numbers, which has allowed us to hire some extra development and research people, and they are hard at work implementing the features that we’ve been asked for most over the years. The early fruits of their labors have hit the site with new trending movies, most anticipated movies, and trending people pages; and (huge) new lists of production companies and home video distributors.

The trending traffic pages are part of our goal to enhance the level of analysis we provide for individual films and for film franchises. This is something we specialize in when providing research for our private clients, and we will be applying that experience to build out the tools we use ourselves into new functionality at The Numbers.

The production company and home video distributor analysis continues our quest to provide the most comprehensive analysis of the industry as a whole. While our aim is be the leader in analysis of the box office and theatrical distribution, that is just a slice of the overall movie business. Looking beyond the theatrical release to the home market, and looking back to the production process are just as important in seeing the complete picture. Look for more data and analysis in all of those segments soon.

These enhancements to the site, and our continued work, is made possible by you, our readers. Since we don’t have a big corporate parent with it’s own agenda, we benefit from a very straightforward business model: every pageview on The Numbers translates into money we can spend enhancing the site and increasing our coverage. If you want more, all you need do is keep using the site, tell your friends and colleagues about us, and tell us what features you’d like to see by emailing us at support@the-numbers.com. We have a to-do list as long as our arm, and we’re itching to get new features and data out there for you to use. Thank you for helping make that possible.
