Synopsis

Five years ago, a fire took the life of Professor Poon, and the notebook on his research for a cure to a deadly disease disappeared without a trace. His assistant Gao Yu was saved from a fiery death thanks to the quick action of Chong Tin-po, a security guard at the lab. Now the chief security officer at a top level medical facility, Tin-po protects the lab where Yu works, hoping she will find the cure to the disease that took the life of his wife years earlier. Tin-po is soon caught in an explosive battle when Poon Chi-man, a young thief with a mysterious past, steals the curative medicine. Unfortunately, the film was such a massive hit at the box office that it scared away all of the competition and there’s no real Pick of the Week films on this week’s list. More...

Theater Averages: Jackie Tackles Lion Earning Average of $55,743

December 6th, 2016

Jackie

Jackie led the way on the theater average chart with an average of $55,743 in five theaters. Given this start and add in its Oscar buzz and the film has a real shot at expanding wide. Last week’s winner, Lion, fell to second place with an average of $16,651 in seven theaters. Manchester by the Sea continues its impressive run with an average of $14,592 in 156 theaters. It still has room to grow. Miss Sloane earned an average of $11,213 in four theaters. It is reportedly expanding wide this weekend, but that can mean anything from a few hundred theaters to well over 2,000. Finally, Things to Come opened with an average of $11,030 in three theaters.
