Synopsis

On the surface Adam, an over-achieving environmental consultant, Mike, a long-married small-business owner, and Neil, a wisecracking emergency-room doctor, have little in common. But all are in different stages of dealing with addiction. Confident and successful in his career, Adam is afraid to allow love back into his life, even if that means losing a chance to start over with smart, beautiful and accomplished Phoebe; Mike’s efforts to control his wife, Katie, and son, Danny, as tightly as he does his impulses are tearing the family apart; and Neil is still deeply in denial when befriended by Dede, who has just begun to take her own small steps back to health. As they navigate the rocky shores of recovery, Adam, Mike and Neil become a family that encourages, infuriates and applauds each other on the journey toward a new life.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for January 7th, 2014

January 5th, 2014

It is a relatively slow week this week. That's not to say there are no releases worth picking up, in fact, there's a close race for Pick of the Week. It's just none of the releases were monster hits at the theaters. This includes a couple of documentaries, The Act of Killing and Inequality for All, as well as a couple of TV on DVD releases, Archer: Season Four and Being Human: Complete Third Season. However, in the end, I went with We Are What We Are on DVD or Blu-ray for Pick of the Week. Meanwhile, Being Human: Complete Third Season on DVD or Blu-ray earns Puck of the Week, for the best Canadian release. More...

Per Theater Chart: Gravity Escapes Massive Competition

October 9th, 2013

There were a ton of new releases this week, but Gravity was pulled down by the mass of new releases. It lead the way on the Per Theater Chart with an average of $15,604. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Linsanity, which earned an average of $11,051 in nine theaters. More...

Per Theater Chart: Enough is Never Enough

September 24th, 2013

There were two major releases on the per theater chart with Enough Said pulling in an average of $58,200 in four theaters, while it has made $287,000 from Wednesday through Sunday. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Rush with an average of $37,458 in five theaters. This bodes well for it wide expansion on Friday. More...

Rush Out to See Limited Releases this Weekend

September 20th, 2013

There are a few films on this week's list earning overwhelmingly positive reviews, including the The Wizard of Oz 3D re-release. This film might do well enough to reach the top ten. Rush opens in two theaters before expanding wide next weekend, so its per theater average is not as important, but could still do well. Enough Said is the big limited release hit of the week. The film has a lot of buzz, a sad real world story, and amazing reviews. It will likely come out on top. More...
