Synopsis

As their fame grew exponentially, Tom and Tommy Morris, Scotland’s Golf Royalty, were touched by drama and personal tragedy. At first matching his father’s success, Tommy’s talent and fame grew to outshine his father’s accomplishments as founder of the Open Championship in 1860, his stellar playing record, and his reputation as the local caddie master, greens-keeper and club & ball maker. In contrast to his public persona, Tommy’s inner turmoil ultimately led him to rebel against the aristocracy who gave him opportunity, led by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews chief Alexander Boothby, and the parents who shunned his passionate relationship with his girlfriend-then-wife Meg Drinnen.

Stalker

Last week, The Fate of the Furious scared away all of the competition. This week, the competition is still scared, as there’s very little in the way of top notch releases. Kong: Skull Island is by far the biggest new release of the week, while the next two biggest are The Promise and Free Fire. As for the best releases of the week, The Expanse: Season Two is a contender, but ultimately the Pick of the Week goes to the Stalker Criterion Collection Blu-ray. More...

The Lost City of Z

We have a bumper crop of limited releases this week, with several that are earning outstanding reviews. Unfortunately, this means there’s way too much competition for all of them to thrive. The Lost City of Z has the loudest buzz and I think that will give it the edge at the box office. More...
