DVD Releases for July 1, 2008

June 30th, 2008

Another week without a marquee first-run release, but that's not surprising given the time of year. There are a few releases that were contenders for DVD Pick of the Week, including two TV on DVD releases: 30 Days - The Complete Second Season - Buy from Amazon and Mad Men - Season One - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray. Both are worthy for different reasons, and if I were forced to pick one, I'd probably just flip a coin, so I might as well award them both the DVD Pick of the Week. More...

Contest - One for the Road

March 7th, 2008

Plenty of prizes this week, including what is likely the last HD DVD disc we will ever give away. In order to win, one must simply predict Horton Hears a Who's three-day, opening weekend box office. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going over, will win 3 Pigs and a Baby on DVD, as well as Day Zero on DVD. Meanwhile, whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will also win win 3 Pigs and a Baby on DVD, as well as Day Zero on DVD. Also, whoever is the absolute closest of those two will win the City of Men poster, CD Soundtrack, and TV series on DVD. Additionally, the person who came the closest to winning one of the above prizes, but didn't, will take home a copy of Beowulf on HD DVD. (If you don't have an HD DVD player, keep it shrink-wrapped, it could be collector's item in a few years.) Finally, all three winners will take home Never Back Down posters, both the full size, and the mini-posters. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...

Per Theater Averages - Counterfeiter's Run is Real

March 4th, 2008

The Counterfeiters was the only film to cross $10,000 on the per theater chart this week, pulling in $185,000 in 18 theaters for an average or $10,295. One must assume its Oscar Win boosted its box office this weekend. More...

Movie Website Reviews for Weekend of February 29, 2008

March 2nd, 2008

Limited Releases Try not to go Un(fore)seen

February 29th, 2008

The weekend after the Oscars should see some award-winning limited releases expanding, and No Country for Old Men is expanding while The Counterfeiters could be as well (we don't have a theater count for the latter film). However, there is still plenty of room for new limited releases and City of Men could do well in its 75 theaters over the next three days. More...

Contest - It's All in the Past

February 29th, 2008

The one saturation level release next week is 10,000 B.C., which is ironic since most of this week's prizes are a little on the old side. (We have a glut of prizes that arrived during the Oscar hiatus to give away.) In order to win, one must simply predict 10,000 B.C.'s three-day, opening weekend box office. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going over, will win Medabots - Season One on DVD and DISPATCH: ZIMBABWE - Live at Madison Square Garden DVD / CD set. Meanwhile, whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will also win Medabots - Season One on DVD and DISPATCH: ZIMBABWE - Live at Madison Square Garden DVD / CD set. Additionally, one other lucky participant will be chosen randomly and will win a signed poster from City of Men. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...
