Per Theater Chart: Still Lonely

There was only one film in the $10,000 club, but that's one more than a lot of people thought there would be. Lone Survivor expanded wide earning $37.85 million in 2,876 theaters for an average of $13,161. That's awesome, especially for this time of year.

None of the new limited releases did particularly well. If You Build It did the best earning $4,949 in its lone theater. In Bloom was right behind with an average of $4,640 of in two theaters. Raze was not as lucky missing the Mendoza Line with an average of just $1,727 in just two theaters. Truth was right behind with $1,626 in its single theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Great Beauty finally reached $1 million before the weekend. It also picked up a Golden Globe win, so it was a really good week for the film.
  • While its semi-wide expansion wasn't as strong as expected, Her still topped $3 million since this time last weekend. Reached $5 million over the weekend and will get past $10 million shortly, but after that milestones will become harder and harder.
  • August: Osage County expanded dramatically last Friday and that helped it get to $5 million over the weekend. By this time next week, it could be at $15 million, maybe more, if it continues to expand.
  • Philomena made it all the way to $20 million since this time last week. It now has more than The Big Wedding did in total and it is closing in on The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
