Per Theater Chart: Not Again

February 26, 2013

No remained in top spot on the per theater chart with an average of $11,625 in six theaters. It should continue to expand and it might reach a major milestone before too long.

None of the rest of the new limited releases were all that impressive with the best being Kai Po Che!, which earned an average of $4,752 in 110 theaters. The Red Flag / Rubberneck double-bill earned $8,300 in one theater, so each film's share was $4,150. Bless Me, Ultima opened in way too many theaters and failed to reach the Mendoza line with an average of $1,787. 11 Flowers was right behind with an average of $1,758 in 2 theaters. Inescapable was even weaker with an average of $773, also in 2 theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Special 26 reached $1 million over the weekend, which is rather good for a Bollywood film.
  • The Oscar buzz helped Amour get to $5 million. Even with the win, getting to $10 million will be really difficult.
  • Silver Linings Playbook became the 31st film released in 2012 to get to $100 million. This won't be the film's last milestone.
