Visitor Looking for a Long Stay on the Per Theater Chart

April 16, 2008

The Visitor opened in first place on the Per Theater Chart with an average of $21,622 in 4 theaters, which bodes very well for this Friday's expansion. Young @ Heart scored second place with an average of $12,734 over the weekend and $15,558 from Wednesday to Sunday. The final film in the $10,000 club was Flight of the Red Balloon, which was down 32% to $11,959. The closest film to $10,000 that didn't make was Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour with $8,424, which is that film's best per theater average since its second week of release.

U Me Aur Hum opened very well with an average of $7,224 in 89 theaters, but I don't expect it to last next weekend. Krazzy 4 also did well with an average of $5,465 in 59 theaters. Next up was Dark Matter with $4,351 while Never Forever earned an average $3,265. Bra Boys and Refusenik were very close with averages of $1,837 and $1,802 respectively.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Shine a Light hit $2 million over the weekend and will reach $3 million before this coming weekend.
  • The Counterfeiters reached $3 million since last weekend and it still should hit $4 million.
