Per Theater Chart Goes Wild

September 25, 2007

Into the Wild took top prize on the per theater chart earning an average of $53,110 in four theaters. The only other film to top $10,000 was The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford with nearly $150,000 in 5 theaters for an average of $29,562.

No other film came close to $10,000 with only one film topping $5000, The Jane Austen Book Club with $5,942. The Last Winter pulled in just over $8,000 in two theaters for an average of $4,045. Imprint earned $3,607 in one theater while The Man in My Life earned $2,991, also in one theater. Randy and the Mob opened with nearly $13,000 in 5 theaters for an average of $2,570. Antonia earned an average of $1,775 in two theaters while Beauty Remains earned an average of $1,624 also in two theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Charts alumni:

  • Several possible award-season contenders expanded over the weekend and that helped them reach milestones including In the Valley of Ellah that hit $1 million over the weekend.
  • Across the Universe earned nearly $2 million over the weekend, (which was a little lower than expected), while it nearly hit $3 million over the weekend.
  • Finally, Eastern Promises earned more than $5 million over the weekend, reaching the top five in the process. Reaching the top five is the usual cutoff point for being a limited release, so this might be the last time the film appears on this liest, regardless of the number of milestones it reaches.
