Don't Panic!

January 15th, 2004

The long awaited Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie is moving closer to making it to the big screen with two recent castings.

Firstly, cast as Arthur Dent was Martin Freeman, best known as Tim Canterbury in the British Sitcom, The Office. And Bill Nighy, who is probably best known to American audiences as Bill Mack the aging Rock Star in Love Actually, was cast as the planet designer Slartibartfast. Commenting on him being cast, Bill Nighy said he was a "big fan of the book" and that the script was "really, really faithful [to Douglas Adams original novel.]"

A movie adaptation for Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was first optioned way back in 1982 and if all goes according to plan, it should finally hit the big screen in 2005.
