Harry Potter Keeps Competition Down

June 4, 2004

With the juggernaut that is Harry Potter entering theatres this week, it is a very light week with competition. No wide releases and only 3 limited releases dared go up against the teenage wizard. And two of those are re-releases.

The Corporation - Reviews
Another one of those must see documentaries that deals with one of the most important topics today, namely the disproportional power of corporations. Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbott and Joel Bakan look at corporations as if they were real people, and not just legally so, and come to the only conclusion possible. Corporation act like psychopaths. The film opens in two theatres in California today before expanding across the country in the coming weeks.

Donnie Darko: Director's Cut - Reviews
Has I have already mentioned, this film opened in several theatres in the Seattle area on Wednesday.

The Story of the Weeping Camel - Reviews
Part nature documentary and part Gobi Desert drama. This film is earning amazing reviews as a touching, if a little slow moving, movie about the ties than unite families, whether they are people or camels.
