Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion opened on top of the theater average chart with $24,712 in just over 400 theaters. It goes without saying that there will be another installment in this franchise; although I hear it won’t follow the same characters. The only other film in the $10,000 club was How to Be a Latin Lover, which earned an average of $10,959 in 1,118 theaters. Obit was relatively close to the $10,000 mark with an average of $8,093 in two theaters over the weekend; however, it was a Wednesday release earning an average of $17,604 over the five days.

The rest of the new limited releases were a mixed bag. Natasha opened with $8,325 in its lone theater, while Buster’s Mal Heart was next with $7,137, also in one theater. Battle of Memories opened in 42 theaters earning an average of $5,356. Bang! The Bert Berns Story struggled with $3,923 over the weekend and $8,571 from Wednesday through Sunday. Sleight only managed an average of $3,012, but it was playing in 565 theaters, so that’s a mitigating factor. One Week and a Day was next with an average of $2,278 in three theaters. The Mayor was the only film to open below the Mendoza Line earning $1,625 in 29 theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
