Theater Averages: Beatriz Fills Up with Average of $28,392

June 13, 2017

Beatriz-at-Dinner

Beatriz at Dinner led the way on the theater average chart with an average of $28,392 in five theaters. Last week’s winner, Wonder Woman, was pushed into second place with a still impressive average of $14,050. The final film in the $10,000 club was The Hero with an average of $11,329 in four theaters.

Only one other new limited releases didn’t fall below the Mendoza Line ($2,000/theater). That one film was Dawson City: Frozen Time, which earned $5,713 in one theater. My Cousin Rachel came the closest to avoiding this ignoble fate earning an average of $1,852 in over 500 theaters. Night School was next with $1,588 in one theater. Miles was well back with an average of $1,074 in two theaters, but it is playing on VOD, so that’s mitigating circumstances. Beautiful Accident only managed an average of $990 in six theaters. I Love You Both was last with an average of $462 in seven theaters, but it was also playing on Video on Demand.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Wedding Plan cracked $1 million before the weekend. However, its theater average is low enough that it will likely fade from theaters before getting to $2 million.
  • 3 Idiotas hit $1 million during the weekend, but it also likely won’t get to $2 million.
  • The Lovers reached $2 million before the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Paris Can Wait also got to $2 million, but unlike the other films on this list, this won’t be its final milestone.
  • Lowriders topped $6 million over the weekend, barely. That’s as far as it will go.
