Last Jedi Continues its Path to $600 million with $7.88 million on Tuesday

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi remained in second place with $7.88 million on Tuesday for a total of $539.39 million after 19 days of release. By comparison, The Force Awakens earned $7.97 million and Rogue One earned $6.27 million during their respective 19th days of release. Using these two figures as guides, The Last Jedi remains on pace for $650 million to $700 million domestically. I think the lower figure is more likely than the higher figure, because Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has taken over first place, so theater owners will be slightly more likely to drop this film for new releases. That said, it is already the biggest domestic hit of 2017 and the sixth biggest hit on the all-time domestic chart. It should be able to grab third place by the end of its run.

Internationally, The Last Jedi was much more impressive with $16.6 million on Tuesday for totals of $551.4 million international and $1.092 billion worldwide. The film’s number one market of the day was France, where it made $4.4 million for a running tally of $51.2 million. Its best market overall was the U.K., where it has earned $95.3 million, including $2.0 million on Tuesday. The film has also earned more than $50 million in Germany ($1.8 million on Tuesday for a total of $65.1 million), while Japan will join in there shortly ($2.4 million / $44.9 million). The film is in sixth place on the international 2017 chart and third place on the worldwide 2017 chart. The film also entered the top 20 on the all-time worldwide chart and will quickly continue climbing, especially with its debut in China this Friday.
