Theater Averages: Isle Dogpiles the Competition

March 27, 2018

Isle of Dogs

Isle of Dogs had the best theater average of the weekend and indeed the year with an average of $59,825 in 27 theaters. Technically Fantastic Mr. Fox had a better average with $66,475, but it was only playing on 4 theaters, so this is much more impressive.

There were a couple of new limited releases that came really close to the $10,000 mark. Ismael’s Ghost earned an average of $9,579 in two theaters, while Final Portrait was very close behind with an average of $9,405 in three. Summer in the Forest also did well earning $8,366 in one theater. On the other hand, Back to Burgundy struggled with an average of $3,031 in five theaters. Finally, Getting Grace missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $1,731 in 60 theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Death of Stalin crossed $1 million just before the weekend and $2 million by the very end of the weekend.
  • 7 Days in Entebbe also got to $2 million, but it made it there before the weekend. It will get to $3 million, but that’s as far as it will get.
