As no surprise, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire easily topped the box office charts in its opening week, pushing previous number ones, Dune: Part Two, and Kung Fu Panda 4 to the second and third place spots respectively. The latest installment fired up just over $45 million in its opening weekend, catapulting the franchise over the $1 billion mark, where it currently sits with $1.014 billion in earnings. This week looks to be a one and done at the top for Frozen Empire as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire smashes into theaters. ]]>

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is scaring up a very solid $45.2 million at the box office this weekend, according to Sony’s Sunday-morning projection. That’s a shade better than the $44 million earned by Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2021, and, among the five films in the franchise, behind only 2016’s Ghostbusters in terms of opening weekend, when not adjusting for inflation. Also posting strong numbers this weekend are the horror movies Immaculate and Late Night with the Devil. ]]>
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will top the box office chart this weekend fairly comfortably, knocking Kung Fu Panda 4 into second or third place, depending on how it holds on compared to Dune: Part Two. After a long dry spell, this could be the first weekend since August 4 last year to have three films earn over $20 million. ]]>
It was another battle at the domestic box office this week with Kung Fu Panda 4, and Dune: Part Two once again going head-to-head for the number one and number two spot, with the former taking the weekend, while the latter topped the weekday dailies chart. To date, the two films have combined for over $328 million in domestic revenue, with Dune grabbing $213 million, while Kung Fu Panda 4 holds $114 million. This week will see both take a backseat to the latest in the Ghostbusters franchise as Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire charges into theaters. ]]>
Kung Fu Panda 4 will almost certainly end this weekend as the top-grossing film in North America, according to Sunday-morning studio projections, but Dune: Part Two is expected to end just $900,000 behind it as of now, and could still sneak a win. The good news is that both films are holding on well from last weekend. ]]>
Our model thinks Dune: Part Two has a good shot at beating Kung Fu Panda 4 at the box office this weekend. Arthur the King is likely to have the best weekend among the new releases, although The American Society of Magical Negroes and One Life will be looking to draw in some business with niche audiences. ]]>
After spending its first two weeks as the widest release in North America, Dune: Part Two slips into the second place spot this week, dropping 227 locations, while still playing in a solid 3,847 cinemas. Taking its place this week is last week’s newcomer , Kung Fu Panda 4, which increases its viewing opportunities by adding 32 theaters for a total of 4,067 locations. The fourth installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise diced up $58 million in its opening weekend, and currently enjoys a six-day domestic total of just over $73 million. This week both films will have to contend with a bevy of new films making their theatrical debuts. ]]>
