Mulan and I’m Thinking of Ending Things Give People Reasons to Stay Home

September 4th, 2020

Mulan

This year’s Labor Day weekend in the United States may prove to be historic. While Warner Bros. tests the viability of the theatrical market with a novel release strategy for Tenet, Disney is seeing how far it can get when it eschews theaters altogether with the Premium VOD release of Mulan on Disney+.

VOD Releases: Horror Films are Out for Blood

September 3rd, 2020

Followed

It’s a busy week on VOD, especially if you are a fan of horror. Blood Quantum, Followed, and Z are all worth checking out. There are also some smaller horror releases or ones with weaker reviews that might be worth it for more hardcore fans. If you are not a fan of horror, then The Wind Rises is your best bet. More...

Limited and VOD Releases: Farewell to Loved Limited Releases

Furthermore, there are many that are playing in too many theaters for limited release or playing on VOD, neither of which will help their box office chances. As for top picks, I would see Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe in theaters or Hounds of Love on Video on Demand. More...

Limited Releases: Skeleton Key to Box Office Success

September 12th, 2014

The Skeleton Twins poster

There's a large number of limited releases, including a few that are earning good reviews and strong buzz. One of these is The Drop, but it is opening in too many theaters and I think that will hurt it at the box office. If I were to guess, The Skeleton Twins will be the biggest hit on this week's list.
