Synopsis
What does it mean to be a girl in today’s restrictive world? The documentary GIRLS DON’T CRY tells the story of six girls from six different countries who yearn for a self-determined life in freedom, their desire to fall in love without being patronized, without having power over their bodies, and with equal rights. We see Nancy, Sheelan, Selenna, Nina, Paige, and Sinai, aged 14-16, making confident decisions in difficult situations, and courageously fighting against brutal traditions like female genital mutilation, against societal constraints and pressures, against the obsession with beauty standards, and against prejudice.
