Synopsis

When lawman and rancher-turned-Montana Senator Edward Johnson is killed in an ambush by cattle rustlers, his longtime aide, Lefty Brown, sets off to avenge the murder. Riding through the vast Montana plains, Lefty befriends a young gunslinger, tangles with an alcoholic U.S. Marshall and gets into a shootout with a sadistic horse thief. But when Lefty returns home with information about the identity of Edward’s killer, Edward’s grieving widow accuses him of the murder. To prove his innocence, Lefty follows a twisted trail that leads to Johnson’s old friend, Governor Jimmy Bierce.

Blade of the Immortal

It’s not a good week in terms of box office numbers, as the biggest box office hit to come out this week is Wonder. It is also one of the best new releases of the week and a contender for Pick of the Week. Other contenders for Pick of the Week include Blade of the Immortal, Night of the Living Dead, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Sinner: Season One. In the end, it was a coin toss between Blade of the Immortal and Night of the Living Dead and the former won. More...

The Last Jedi

The Last Jedi became the biggest wide release of the year on the theater average chart with $51,987, overtaking the previous leader, Beauty and the Beast, which had an opening weekend average of $41,508. Last week’s number one film, I, Tonya was pushed into second place with an average of $34,256 in five theaters. The film clearly has more room to grow. Call Me by Your Name was well behind with an average of $16,398 in 30 theaters. There were two more holdovers in the $10,000 club: The Shape of Water at $10,828 in 158 threatres and Darkest Hour at $10,090 in 84. More...

I, Tonya

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters today and that’s scaring away all of the competition. There’s barely more than a dozen films we have release dates for, and none of them are earning serious buzz. If we limited ourselves to films with 10 or more reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, then this week’s list would be embarrassingly short. The best film on this week’s list is Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, but it is an foreign animated movie, so I’m not expecting much at the box office. More...
