Synopsis

It's known as the Jersey Devil, the winged beast spawned 400 years ago by Satan himself. Some say this creature still inhabits the dense pine forests of southern New Jersey, where Richard Vineyard takes his family for a rustic weekend camping trip. As the Vineyard family ventures further into the woods in search of the perfect campsite, Richard teeters on the edge of sanity. Welcome to a new kind of horror that lives - and kills - in a place called The Barrens.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for October 9th, 2012

October 8th, 2012

It is a soft week for new releases with only Prometheus looking strong. The film has earned polarizing reviews, so while many will like it, it's probably best to rent the DVD, Blu-ray Combo Pack, or 3D Combo Pack instead of buying outright. There are some TV on DVD releases and limited releases coming out this week, but you have to look to the catalogue Blu-rays coming out this week that are contenders for Pick of the Week. E.T. The Extraterrestrial, hasn't arrived yet, but its Anniversary Edition Blu-ray could be the best film on this week's list. However, Dial M for Murder in 3D is also a contender. 3D is still a niche market, so E.T. is the best bet for Pick of the Week. More...

Perfect Limited Releases

September 28th, 2012

There are only four films on this week's list that we have solid theater counts for, but I've included a few others that are coming out on this week's list. The biggest limited release of the week is Pitch Perfect, which is expanding wide next Friday (assuming it doesn't bomb this weekend). However, the limited release that is earning the best reviews is The Hole 3D. I would not have guessed that would happen. Pitch Perfect will obviously earn the most in terms of raw dollars, some even think it will reach the top ten overall, but I don't think there's any film that will really be a hit on the per theater average.
