Synopsis

Nick Flynn is a young writer seeking to define himself. He misses his late mother, Jody, and her loving nature. But his father, Jonathan, is not even a memory, as Nick has not seen the man in 18 years. Jonathan Flynn has long defined himself as a great writer, “a master storyteller.” After abandoning his wife and child, Jonathan scrapes through life on his own terms. Despite the occasional grandiose letter to his son, he has remained absent from Nick’s life. Suddenly facing eviction from his apartment, Jonathan impulsively reaches out to Nick and the two come face-to-face.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for July 10th, 2012

July 9th, 2012

Like last week, it's another really slow week on the home market. Unlike last week, there is at least one first run release coming out. American Reunion should lead the way in terms of sales, but given its reviews and its box office struggles, it won't be a major player. As for the best new release, there are a few interesting titles, like Dark Shadows: The Complete Original Series (Deluxe Edition). But in the end I went with Adventure Time: Complete First Season is the release I'm most looking forward to seeing. (The screener is late, but I will get to the review ASAP after it arrives.) Per Theater Chart is Feeling Green

March 7th, 2012

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax was surprisingly strong during its opening and that helped it win the race on top of the per theater chart with an average of $18,830. The only other two films in the $10,000 club, Being Flynn and Boy, were neck-and-neck at $10,998 and $10,622 respectively. More...

Limited Releases Look to Earn a Billion Dollars

March 2nd, 2012

It's quite a busy week in terms of limited releases with nine films on this week's list. There are a couple that are earning very strong reviews, like Boy and Last Days Here. There are also a couple opening wider than the average limited release, like Paan Singh Tomar and Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Unfortunately, the widest release of the week, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, is also earning some of the weakest reviews of the week. More...
