Synopsis

Your best friend has just been infected with a horrifying virus that will soon turn her into a rabid, rampaging cannibal-zombie. Do you: a) try to save her? or b) kill her before she kills you? That’s the nightmarish scenario six students find themselves facing when their celebratory camping trip goes terrifyingly wrong. One by one, each falls victim to the “feral” disease, until only Alice and Jules—two girlfriends testing the waters of their new relationship-are left standing, armed with a shotgun and holed up in a remote cabin. They’ve got a hell of a fight before if they hope to survive…

Leave No Trace

It’s an off week on the home market with no blockbusters to deal with. There are two solid midlevel hits, The First Purge and Sicario: Day of the Soldado, but neither of those are Pick of the Week contenders. (Ant-Man and the Wasp is also coming out this week, but only on Video on Demand). There are some high quality picks: Leave No Trace, Three Identical Strangers, Molly, The Spiral Staircase, and Hyouka. It was a close race, but in the end, I went with Leave No Trace Blu-ray as Pick of the Week. More...

First Reformed

It is a slow week, both in terms of total releases and in terms of quality releases. The Gospel According to Andre and Summer 1993 are both earning great reviews, but will likely be relegated to the art house circuit. The film with the best chance of box office success is Who We Are Now, but even then it has an uphill battle. More...
