Wow. What a week for DVD releases. There are roughly 50 releases on this week's list but strangely not many that were in contention for the DVD Pick of the Week. In a few cases the price-tag was just too high, or the extras were a little light. In the end I went with Fido - Buy from Amazon. Some might think this is my pro-Canada bias showing through... and I really can't argue with that. Still, it is a fun movie and deserves to be seen by more people.

Namesake proved that Kal Penn could lead a drama better than he does most of his comedies.
Over the weekend, the film pulled in nearly a quarter of a million dollars in just 6 theaters for an average of $41,425.
That was well ahead of the overall box office leader, 300 and its still fantastic $22,844.
The last film in the $10,000 club was a holdover, as Into Great Silence fell just 3.4% to $11,566 despite doubling its theater count to two.

Only two films were able to top $10,000 on the per theater chart this week and they couldn't be more different.
The overall box office leader, Wild Hogs, also led the per theater chart with $12,078.
Second place went to Into Great Silence, which made $11,355 in its lone theater over the weekend and $15,128 since Wednesday.

A weak week for limited releases, with only four opening this weekend, and half of those earning very weak reviews.
Ironically, the films earning the weakest reviews are also opening the widest.
