Synopsis

The story is set in Goa, home to one of the most accomplished magicians of the time - Ethan Mascarenhas. As fate would have had it, Ethan is severely injured when his former best friend Yasser Siddique, who was also a magician betrays him by ruining one of his dangerous magic tricks and turning him into a quadriplegic. Confined in his own wheelchair, Ethan's willpower only gets stronger and stronger. He becomes the Radio Jockey of an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show spreads magic and hope and laughter through his irrepressible wit and humor to every listener and caller, making it difficult to imagine that this is a man who has been immobilised with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years of his life. Sofia D'Souza, is his elegant nurse who has been accompanying him like a shadow for the past twelve years, leaving her domineering husband. Ethan's life centers on Sofia and they share a silent tacit love which is both beautiful and spirited.

Fighting to the Top of the Per Theater Chart

December 14th, 2010

The Fighter started its run on top of the per theater chart with an average of $75,003 in four theaters. That's not the best per theater average of the year, or even of recent weeks, but it does suggest it will perform well when it expands wide on Friday. Black Swan remained potent on the per theater chart despite very significant expansion. It earned an average of $36,726 in 90 theaters, which is more than enough to assume further expansion over the coming weeks. The King's Speech was close behind with an average of $31,148 in 19 theaters during its third week of release. More...

Harry Potter Tops Another Chart

November 23rd, 2010

The overall box office leader, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, also led the way on the per theater chart, pulling in an average of $30,307 in more than 4000 theaters. Last week's winner, Tiny Furniture, was a distant second place, with $16,384 in one theater. Made in Dagenham opened with a disappointing average of $12,521 in three theaters. This should be enough to expand somewhat, but its chances of earning a significant measure of mainstream success took a hit over the weekend. White Material was right behind with an average of $11,538, also in three theaters. More...

Don't Be Heartless, See a Limited Release

November 19th, 2010

While there are not a lot of limited releases on this week's list, there are a few that are earning reviews that are good to great. This includes Made in Dagenham, which could be an Awards Season player, while White Material is also doing well enough to earn some measure of mainstream success. Or at least do better than the average Foreign Language film. More...
