DVD and Blu-ray Releases for November 23rd, 2010

November 22nd, 2010

This Friday is Black Friday, but there's a lull on the home market with not a whole lot of great releases. (This is the usual pattern for Thanksgiving.) The biggest hit coming out is The Expendables, which should top the chart, while there are a number of smaller releases that are in contention for Pick of the Week. The best of these is Metropolis: The Complete Metropolis, which comes out on Blu-ray this week after being released on DVD last week. More...

February 11th, 2008

The Game Plan repeated as champion on the rental charts this week with $8.45 million for the week and $18.67 million in total. More...

DVD Sales - The Man With the Plan

February 4th, 2008

The Game Plan led all new releases and all holdovers to top this week's sales chart with 1.16 million units sold for opening week revenue just a hair shy of $20.00 million. More...

Like it did on the sales chart, the new release, The Game Plan, was able to lead all rentals with an opening of $10.22 million. More...

DVD Releases for January 22, 2008

January 22nd, 2008

More than 40 releases made it on to this week's list, however, after reviewing the whole selection, there's a real weakness at the top. There are plenty worth renting a more than a few worth picking up, but none that leap out and demand to be chosen the DVD Pick of the Week. Hopefully that will change next week. More...

Getting What You Want on the Per Theater Chart

September 11th, 2007

Again we only saw one film able to crack $10,000 over the weekend as I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With scored $12,317 over the weekend and $15,990 since Wednesday, all in one theater. More...

Movie Website Updates for September 2 - September 8, 2007

September 9th, 2007

Another week without any top-notch websites, at least one that hasn't previously won the award. At least there are a few with possibilities and the fall blockbusters should start coming launching their sites shortly so the pace should pickup soon. More...

Someone to Watch Limited Releases With

September 7th, 2007

It's still too early for Oscar worthy films to come up, but we do have a few films that are scoring with critics. The best of these is In the Shadow of the Moon, but my personal choice is I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With. Regardless, it will be tough for any of the films on this weeks list to see their theater count expand to triple digits. More...

Movie Website Updates for August 26 - September 1, 2007

September 1st, 2007

As we enter the slowest month of the year, the number and quality of website updates has slowed to a crawl as well. I suspect that within a few weeks we will start getting website launches for films opening during the holidays, and that will again give us plenty of award-worthy sites. More...

2007 Preview: September

September 1st, 2007

After a record-breaking summer, we come to the worst month of the year. There are a few films that look promising, but for the most part the month is filled with projects that should probably never been given the greenlight to begin with. September is a dumping ground for failed projects, and like most similar times of the year, it is crowded with 20 movies that at least have a shot at opening or expanding wide over a period of just four weeks. Five new releases a week is far too many, even if they were all high quality at least half will fail just due to the competition. More...

Movie Website Updates for August 12 - August 18, 2007

August 18th, 2007

Busy week with more than 30 sites featured on the list. However, none really stand our as award-worthy; in fact, most only stand because of a lack of style. Hopefully as the fall season progresses and we near the holidays, we will get bigger and better sites launching. More...
