Synopsis
Eleanor, a privileged social reformer, ventures into a Victorian-era brothel to rescue a young woman who appears to be held in there against her will. There, she confronts the owner of the establishment, Casti-Piani, and engages in a heated debate on sexual politics, morality, religion… and Eleanor’s own sexual desires. Meanwhile, a group of students pay a visit to the brothel with their shy and inexperienced friend Cyril. Disgusted by the tawdriness of it all, Cyril nevertheless manages to find one woman who interests him: a girl who is just as disenchanted as he is—a girl named Lisiska—the very girl whom Eleanor has come to rescue. Once Cyril and Lisiska are alone, Eleanor peeks at the young lovers through a concealed window. But no one is prepared for what happens when Lisiska reveals her true self, and allows the Little Death to descend.
