Synopsis
Tehran, 1971. As the Shah of Iran blindly leads his country into upheaval, Hibat Tabib, a passionate young student, joins the ranks of the opposition and secretly fights against obscurantism and injustice. At the age of 25, he is arrested, judged, and condemned to ten years in prison. Freed after seven years of humiliation and torture, the incorrigible optimist crosses paths with his future wife, Fereshteh. Within days they decide to marry. His continued activism in the underground and, after the Shah, the regime of terror instated by the Mollahs force Hibat and Fereshteh into hiding with their son. On January 1st, 1984, Hibat, hunted day and night, is forced to flee. He accepts exile only on one condition: it’ll be him, his wife and his son, or not at all!
