Synopsis

Born to an itinerant rodeo clown, Samson Griggs and his younger brother Romeo eke out a misfit experience in Nevada’s desert sprawl hustling cell phones, stolen lawnmowers and premium cable packages. When the bank threatens to repo their beloved home, a dilapidated houseboat, Romeo hatches a plan to get rich forever and fund a new life in California: marry Samson to a Native American girl and collect the massive tribal dowry. Surprisingly, his plan works. Through an online dating site Samson meets Cynthia, a waitress adopted at birth by an Apache Indian family. Meanwhile, Deb Chilson, a private investigator from Memphis arrives looking for the brothers so she can deliver an inheritance their father set aside before his death. Convinced she’s a bank stooge come to repo the boat, Samson and Romeo dodge Chilson at every turn, leaving the PI to contend with the local flavor, smoke screens and a death- trap automobile. After winning big on the underground fight circuit, Samson and Romeo decide to ditch Cynthia and buy the boat outright. To make up the final sum they stage a last minute robbery that goes horribly wrong. Fatally wounded in the robbery, Romeo drowns in the lake despite Samson’s best efforts to save him. As he tries to hitchhike back home, Samson inadvertently runs across Chilson heading for his boat. Filled with desperation and rage, Samson kills Chilson in the road and steals her car, driving through the night to reach California.
