Synopsis

Over the course of one raucous night at a seaside wedding seven close friends, all members of a tight, eclectic college clique, reconvene to watch two of their own tie the knot. Laura is maid of honor to Lila, her golden girl best friend. The two have long rivaled over the groom, Tom. Friendships and alliances are tested and the love triangle comes to a head the night before the wedding, when the drunken friends frolic in the nearby surf and return to shore... without the groom.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for February 8th, 2011

February 8th, 2011

Wow. It's a bad week for DVD / Blu-ray releases. While there are a number of first run releases, none of them exactly shout Pick of the Week. The best bet as far as first run releases goes is Paranormal Activity 2, but the screener hasn't arrived yet. Same goes for Thelma & Louise, which is making its Blu-ray debut this week. So in the end I went with Doctor Who: Story 63: The Mutants as the pick of the week. Great story, powerful message, and lots of extras. More...

Romantics Love the Per Theater Chart

September 14th, 2010

There were just a ton of films to reach the $10,000 mark on the per theater chart over the weekend, led by The Romantics with an average of $22,764 in two theaters. However, with its reviews, it probably won't last long. Heartbreak opened in second place with an average of $17,543 in three theaters, but it will likely have better legs. Ahead of Time and My Dog Tulip were neck-and-neck with $12,790 and $12,648 respectively. Finally, Dabangg opened with more than $600,000 in 62 theaters for an average of $10,131. More...

Weekend Estimates: Resident Evil Dominates Slow Weekend

September 12th, 2010

Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D dominated a tepid weekend at the box office, according to studio estimates released on Sunday. The movie's $27.7 million estimated opening will be a franchise record (see Resident Evil franchise history), although its $4 million increase from the opening of 2007's Extinction is basically accounted for by ticket price inflation. Still, it's fairly unusual for a franchise to hold up this well over four installments. More...

Expecting Big Things from Limited Releases

September 10th, 2010

It's a busy week with a dozen limited releases on the list, and this includes a few opening in more than a dozen theaters. Considering how weak the Tomatometer Scores are for a lot of these films, I'm not expecting great things. Hopefully one or two will score breakout success, but odds are it will be an off week.
