Synopsis
Marlene lives with her daughter Mona in Hamburg and suffers from morbidly recurring nightmares. In a newspaper advertisement, she believes she has discovered the real setting of her nightmares: the Hotel Sonnenhügel in the village of Stainbach. Secretly, she travels to the idyllic place, where her fears are confirmed. When she finds out that her nightmares are linked to three suicides, she falls into a comatose sleep and ends up in psychiatry. Mona wants to help her mother and goes in search of traces in the sleepy village. Hotel owner Otto welcomes her very kindly, but already on the first night in the hotel Mona himself is agitated by a nightmare. It’s the start of a rollercoaster ride into the unsettling abyss of Mona’s unimagined family history. Dream and reality blur — and an old curse draws fresh strength through Mona.
