There was a sharp drop-off in the number of releases this week, but while the numbers were down overall, there were several releases that I can enthusiastically recommend: Charlie Bartlett - Buy from Amazon, Definitely, Maybe - Buy from Amazon, Futurama - The Beast with a Billion Backs - Buy from Amazon, The Hammer - Buy from Amazon, and In Bruges - Buy from Amazon. However, while all those movies, and a few others, are worth picking up, the best of the best is Persepolis and either the DVD or the Blu-ray is worthy of the DVD Pick of the Week.

Only two films topped $10,000 on the Per Theater Chart, and both of them were 3D concert releases. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour led the way with a record-setting average of $45,561, which is the most earned by any film playing in more than 100 theaters.
U2 3D also topped $10,000 with $11,720, which was down just over 25% and that bodes well for its expansion next week.

A soft week for limited releases with only one film, Caramel, that seems likely to score with moviegoers. And even that film has an uphill battle.
