Synopsis

Jay is a man with a secret who travels from Britain to Pakistan to attend a wedding—armed with duct tape, a shotgun, and a plan to kidnap the bride-to-be. Despite his cool efficiency, the plot quickly spirals out of control, sending Jay and his hostage on the run across the border and through the railway stations, back alleys, and black markets of New Delhi—as all the while attractions simmer, loyalties shift, and explosive secrets are revealed. Pulsating with the sights and sounds of the Indian subcontinent, The Wedding Guest conjures a colorful world where danger lurks at every turn and nothing is as it seems.

Toy Story 4

It’s another week with a monster hit and nearly nothing else. Fortunately, that monster hit is Toy Story 4, which is easily the Pick of the Week and would be during all but the best weeks of the year. Midsommar comes close to being a contender for Pick of the Week, but the extras are well below average, even compared to a limited release. More...

Climax

It was a really busy week on the Theater Average Chart with a ton of films to talk about, including six films in the $10,000 club. This list was led by Climax with an average of $23,885 in five theaters. Transit was next with an average of $15,966 in two theaters. Giant Little Ones and Apollo 11 had nearly identical averages of $13,500 and $13,392 respectively, but were playing in vastly different number of theaters at 1 and 120 respectively. Furie was a surprise entry in the $10,000 club with an average of $11,151 in 14 theaters. There was only one wide release in the $10,000 club, as Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral earned an average of $11,082. More...

Climax

After two weeks of almost no releases, there are nearly 30 limited releases coming out this week. However, it’s a case of quantity above quality, for the most part, as the majority of films have no or almost no reviews. That said, the majority of films with a substantial number of reviews are earning overwhelmingly positive reviews. Some of these films, like Climax and Apollo 11, are even earning a combination of amazing reviews and loud buzz. Hopefully this means we will have some hits on this week’s list and the competition won’t sink everyone’s chances. More...
