DVD and Blu-ray Releases for November 23rd, 2010

November 22nd, 2010

This Friday is Black Friday, but there's a lull on the home market with not a whole lot of great releases. (This is the usual pattern for Thanksgiving.) The biggest hit coming out is The Expendables, which should top the chart, while there are a number of smaller releases that are in contention for Pick of the Week. The best of these is Metropolis: The Complete Metropolis, which comes out on Blu-ray this week after being released on DVD last week. More...

Featured TV on DVD Review: The Trial

November 17th, 2010

The Trial is based on the 2001 Robert Whitlow novel of the same name. This was only his second novel, while his first, The List, was also turned into a a movie. That movie didn't wow critics, nor did it manage to find a large audience during its short theatrical release. The film struggled even more at the box office, but is it a better movie than these facts would suggest? More...

Romantics Love the Per Theater Chart

September 14th, 2010

There were just a ton of films to reach the $10,000 mark on the per theater chart over the weekend, led by The Romantics with an average of $22,764 in two theaters. However, with its reviews, it probably won't last long. Heartbreak opened in second place with an average of $17,543 in three theaters, but it will likely have better legs. Ahead of Time and My Dog Tulip were neck-and-neck with $12,790 and $12,648 respectively. Finally, Dabangg opened with more than $600,000 in 62 theaters for an average of $10,131. More...
