After a monster opening for The Conjuring: Last Rites last weekend, this weekend will belong to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, with the anime sensation set to post the biggest opening ever for the genre by a huge margin. $11.4 million in previews already gives it one of the best starts for an animated film from any country, ahead of the likes of Minions: The Rise of Gru, which posted $10.75 million in previews back in 2022. Despite taking a backseat at the box office to Bob Marley: One Love during its opening frame, Madame Web once again finds itself as the widest release in North America this weekend, as it retains (mostly by contractual obligation) its opening count of 4,013 theaters. The superhero film starring Dakota Johnson has earned over $28 million in its first eight days, a figure that has been doubled by One Love, which opened alongside Madame Web on Valentine’s Day. This week witnesses three new wide releases, accompanied by a pandemic era film making its way back into cinemas.

After spending its first two weeks as the widest release and at the box office itself, Argylle slips to second this week, despite an increase in showings as it heads into its third week. The spy-action comedy has racked up just over $31 million in 13-days at the domestic box office, while bringing in roughly the same ($32 million) from overseas play. This week, the espionage feature will take a back seat to Valentine’s Day newcomers Madame Web, and the aptly-named considering the holiday, Bob Marley: One Love.

Godzilla vs. Kong will once again lead the pack this week as all newcomers are opening in limited release. The film played in 3,084 locations last week, and we do not expect it to lose much, if any steam this week. The monster action movie has been the biggest film of the pandemic, earning over $70m domestically, surpassing another Warner Bros., Tenet, which ended its run on January 1, 2021 with a domestic gross of $58m. Despite the lack of wide releases this week, the majority of the films on our list have increased theaters this week, showing more positive signs of the movie industry getting back to business. In limited release this week is Monday, starring Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough, showing in 54 locations.
